Abstract

For investigation of the wind load characteristics on high-rise buildings with opening, a series of rigid rectangular high-rise building models with opening were tested by synchronous multi-pressure sensing system (SMPSS) in a boundary wind tunnel. Influence parameters including different opening heights, opening rates, opening patterns, and terrain categories are studied in detail. Based on the test results, the local wind force coefficients, base moment coefficients, and power spectral densities were discussed. The results indicated that the opening could affect the wind loads acting on high-rise buildings to different extent. The distinct reduction of wind loads on high-rise buildings was found at along-wind direction, which could be evaluated by a proposed simplified expression accordingly. This study aims to provide useful information for the wind-resistant design of high-rise buildings with opening.
