Abstract

Segmented cladding fibers were fabricated with PMMA polymer. Single-mode operation at 1.55 μm was observed with a 36.5-cm long fiber that consisted of 4 cladding segments and had a core diameter of 20 μm. © 2003 Optical Society of America.
