Abstract
The energy consumption for heating and domestic hot water in China is very huge. Air source absorption heat pump, which makes use of the low-grade heat stored in ambient air, can improve the system energy efficiency obviously. There is little research about exergy analysis on air source absorption heat pump (ASAHP), which is to be studied in this paper. The single-stage air source absorption heat pump using H2O-LiBr as working pair is designed and simulated based on the balance equations of mass, energy and exergy. Then the exergy destruction in each component of the heat pump is calculated and the exergetic efficiency (ECOP) of ASAHP is obtained. Results show that the components should be improved in the following order according to the exergy destruction ratio: absorber (30%), generator (24%), evaporator (18%), condenser (14%) and solution heat exchanger (14%). The air source type is the main factor that leads to the low ECOP of evaporator. There is great improvement potential at high driving and air temperatures, so is low temperature hot water application. The results of exergy analysis can provide suggestions about potential thermodynamic performance improvements, and be guidance for the optimal design of air source absorption heat pump.
