Abstract
The exact traveling wave solutions to the generalized Kuramoto-Sivashinsky (K-S) equation were obtained using a special transformation. The original K-S equation was reduced, when α = β = 1 and τ = 0. The K-S equation was derived by Kuramoto for the study of phase turbulence in the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction. It was shown that the K-S equation represents one class of pattern formation equation and it also serves as a good model of bifurcation and chaos.
