Abstract
Dynamic materials modelling for deformation processing of materials is being increasingly applied presently. This paper deals with the evaluation of deformation process efficiency applying the power dissipation approach for Al-4 Mg and Al-5 Si alloys using the compression tests data. The results obtained are found to correlate very well with the processing maps for these materials developed earlier based on mechanical properties, microstructure and fracture features of the product. The power dissipation approach is found to offer distinct advantage in quickly assessing the optimum processing conditions for any given material.
