Abstract
This paper discusses the integration of a fuzzy approach with the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology to evaluate design alternatives’ environmental performance during the new product development (NPD) process. A fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (fuzzy AHP) is used with a fuzzy extension of the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (fuzzy TOPSIS) to prioritize design options. A case study is described to illustrate the use of the proposed method.
