Research output: Conference PapersRGC 33 - Other conference paperpeer-review

Abstract

The use of the web to support teaching is growing, with many schools and universities offering courses online. However, the awareness that web-teachers have of ethical and professional issues relating to the use of the web for education is often lacking. In this article, I introduce some of the key challenges, viz.: Data Privacy, Intellectual Property Rights and Professional Accountability, and illustrate them with examples from my own experience as a web teacher. I also look ahead to challenges yet to come, and offer my personal perspective on web development.
