Abstract

We have developed TiO2/Graphene oxide nanocomposites, which were further characterized successfully by employing various characterization techniques including FTIR, EDX, SEM, and XRD. Fabricated nanocomposites were further evaluated for their photocatalytic activity against ciprofloxacin and methylene blue under sunlight spectrum. Characterization results were indicated that the fabricated nanocomposites were crystalline in nature, with large surface area. They presented narrow energy band gap values i.e. 2.47 eV which was far better than pure TiO2. The synthesized TiO2 /Graphene oxide nanocomposites were demonstrated the excellent photocatalytic activity against both of methylene blue and ciprofloxacin in much short time than pure TiO2. The outstanding photocatalytic degradation activity of fabricated TiO2/Graphene oxide nanocomposites was attributed to their distinguished physical characteristics i.e. good electron acceptor ability and higher adsorption capacity of graphene oxide, narrow band gap and larger surface area. Henceforth, the synthesized TiO2/Graphene oxide nanocomposites can be proved beneficial and sustainable photocatalyst. to provide shelter to our biosphere from the harmful effects of hazardous waste materials generated by several types of industries.
