Abstract
We investigate the magneto-optical and optical characteristics of a tri-layer magnetic plasma structure (TMPS) consisting of a Bi:YIG layer sandwiched between two identical Ag layers. Using the 4 × 4 transfer matrix method (TMM) and the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, we demonstrate that precise control of layer thicknesses enables simultaneous strong Faraday rotation (FR) and high transmittance. Analytical solutions and electric field distributions reveal that resonant tunneling and Fabry-Pérot (F-P) cavity formation are responsible. Based on this mechanism, we design a Ag/Bi:YIG/Ag nano Faraday rotator with FR > 45° at three wavelengths (450.6, 526.5, 632.8 nm), providing an integrable approach for arbitrary wavelengths. © 2026 IEEE.
