Abstract
We review energy consumption and economic growth in Hong Kong for the period 1979-1991. There have been substantial increases in primary energy requirements, especially for electricity generation. Primary and final energy consumption have been calculated for five sectors (industrial, commercial, residential and transport uses, as well as export of electricity to China). Building stocks account for nearly half of the total energy consumption. Issues relating to energy conservation in buildings are discussed. © 1994.
