Abstract
A very simple and efficient algorithm is formulated for reducing any transfer function to its coprime form without long divisions. The algorithm may be considered as an extension of the Sylvester resultant technique. It not only determines the irreducibility but also yields the irreducible formulation when the given transfer function is reducible.
