Abstract

Semi-solid A356 aluminum alloy slurry with large volume was prepared by LSPSF. Effects of some processing parameters, such as pouring volume, rotating speed of the duct and cooling rate, on primary phase in microstructure of the prepared slurry were examined, and formation and evolution mechanism ofthe non-dendrite were described. The results show that A356 semi-solid slurry with large volume and desirable quality can be prepared by the LSPSF. The primary phase in the slurry exhibits near spherical non-dendrite structure, and average equivalent diameter and shape factor of the primary phase can make 54 -93. 6 μm and 0.74-0.84, respectively. Meanwhile, efficiency of prepared slurry about 1 kg/s can be a-chieved.
