Effects of handoff methods on reliable RPC in Wireless Networks

Research output: Chapters, Conference Papers, Creative and Literary Works › RGC 32 - Refereed conference paper (with host publication) › peer-review

Abstract

Being an extension of wired networks, wireless networks grow fast in last decade. Many handoff schemes are introduced for wireless networks to ensure continuous communication services for mobile host as they roam across cells. Remote Procedural Call (RPC) is a common communication method between clients and server in distributed system nowadays. The guarantee of reliability of RPCs in mobile environment becomes a challenging issue. In this paper, we examine the existing handoff schemes and discuss their impacts on the reliability of RPCs. The aim of this work is to find out which handoff method is best suited in supporting RPCs and how the reliability of RPCs can be achieved.
