Abstract

This paper studies the effects of a dispersion filtering associated with the topological distribution of endplates on the power spectrum of myoelectric signals. A computer simulation approach is employed in the study. The results of this simulation study, in consistent with theoretical finding reported early, show that the endplate dispersion has a low-pass filtering effect on the myoelectric signal transmitting across the endplates. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the median frequency of myoelectric signal is inversely proportional to the standard deviation of time delays caused by the endplate dispersion.
