Effect of the large amplitude vibration of a finite flexible micro-perforated panel absorber on sound absorption

    Abstract

This study is the first work on a sound absorber that considers the effects of large amplitude vibration and micro-perforation. It has been proved theoretically that the large amplitude vibration effect can enhance the absorption bandwidth of a micro-perforated absorber. Due to the limitation of the sound power that is generated by a loudspeaker, only the results of small amplitude vibration could be obtained in the impedance tube experiment, but this agreed well with the prediction. © Freund Publishing House Ltd.
