Abstract
It is shown that cube oriented layers appear once in 10 to 20 layers, a range which is not strongly affected by original grain size nor rolling reduction in the range 90-98%, but the layer thickness for all orientations depends on the original grain size, being thicker in coarse grained copper. Growth range of viable cube nuclei is an important factor in determining the strength of the recrystallization cube texture. A model correlating initial grain size, deformation strain, the measured growth range and volume fraction of cube grains in annealing is proposed.
