N2 - An informal survey of control experts in academia and industry were surveyed to determine their favorite textbook on classical control. Many responses refer to textbooks that have been around for decades but are still in print. Many respondents also singled out Franklin, Powell and Emami-Naeini's book as their favorite. About half of those who responded to the survey chose a textbook that is no longer in print. Another respondent pointed out that some of the best classical control books were not printed in English. Finally, many respondents said that they could not think of a favorite book or were too busy to write up their thoughts.
