Abstract

Adolescent are becoming sexually active. Despite the lifelong and irreversible harm caused by early sexual intercourse, the age of onset of sexual intercourse is decreasing. Parenting processes and age of adolescents’ first sexual intercourse has not been investigated although the importance of family factors is known. 300 secondary Chinese students were recruited to investigate Chinese concepts of behavioral control-‘‘jiao xun’’ (training) and ‘‘guan’’ (to love and to govern); four dyadic relationships and their relationships with the onset of early sexual intercourse. It is important that concepts to be evaluated in an indigenous context and from adolescents’ perspective.
