Abstract
The dynamic response of a Pd40Ni40P20 bulk metallic glass in tension was investigated. The tensile behaviour of the bulk metallic glass was characterized under quasi-static and dynamic strain rate conditions. Multiple shear bands were formed in samples tested at dynamic strain rate. Results showed that the shear band interaction had significant effect on the plasticity of the alloy. Tensile fracture stress of the material was observed to be very high and independent of strain rate.
