Abstract

A microstrip dual-mode bandpass filter (BPF) using a circular patch resonator is investigated in this paper. Unlike the conventional dual-mode patch-resonator bandpass filter studied in the literature, the introduced filter is perturbed by one circular hole in the northeast area of the patch. The filter has a simple topology and can implement elliptic-function response characteristics. An experimental filter is optimally designed and fabricated, for the first time, in order to demonstrate the idea. Both the calculated and measured results are presented. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
