Abstract
A novel slot antenna by differential feeding and with the metal cavity on the back is proposed in this paper. The antenna is fabricated on double-layer substrate, where the feeding structure is constructed on the upside of the lower substrate and the radiating slot is constructed on the upside of the upper substrate. The feeding structure and the radiating slot are both inside the metal cavity which is constructed by metalized vias in the simulated model. Due to the radiating slot and the metal cavity, the proposed antenna can operate at dual band and the radiation pattern of this antenna can widely coverage in the E-plane at both operating frequencies. The simulated results show that the antenna achieves -10-dB impedance bandwidth from 5.05 to 5.09 GHz and from 5.53 to 5.58 GHz. The half-power beam-width (HPBW) of the radiation pattern in the E-plane is 111° at 5.07 GHz and 114° at 5.55 GHz.
