Abstract
Honey is a sweet viscous liquid produced by several species of honey bees (Genus Apis). These insects mainly feed on the floral nectar and by enzymatic activity and evaporation of water produce honey from this nectar by regurgitation. Honey has several varieties and is regarded as the superfood with several pharmaceutical properties. This chapter gives a detailed outline about composition, classification, and pharmaceutical and other applications of honey. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.
