Abstract

A new DC-to-DC converter is proposed by using only switched-capacitors. The energy conversion is based on a controlled cyclically switching between two phases. The DC gain can be fixed by choosing an appropriate steady state value of the duty ratio. The output voltage can be kept constant over a large range of the load. The output voltage ripple represents less than 5% for the most of load range interval. By avoiding the use of magnetic elements, a small size and light weight converter can be built. The circuit was analysed by using the state-space averaging method. The theoretical results have been confirmed by the experimental ones.
