Abstract
The lack of engineers conversant with advanced materials technology in Singapore has led the Nanyang Technological Institute to reasess its curriculum. Example is given of how the Institute changed its curriculum towards more non-traditional materials design and processes by developing an integrated approach in both its courses and research projects, in particular for fibre-reinforced composite technology. The development of industrial facilities and processes for the design and fabrication of fibre-reinforced composite components is also described.
