Abstract

A design method for dual-band generalized high-efficiency parallel-circuit (PC) Class-E/F3 power amplifier (PA) is proposed. With the adoption of a generalized structure, the design space for the load network of a PC Class-E/F3 PA is expanded, which makes the design of broadband and dual-band PAs possible. A harmonic tuning network is designed to improve the performance of this PC Class-E/F3 PA at two operational frequencies. A 1.9/2.6 GHz dual-band PA employing commercial GaN devices is designed and fabricated to validate the proposed method the fabricated PA achieves 82.4% and 72% saturated efficiencies at 1.9 and 2.6 GHz, respectively.
