Design of Dual-Band L-probe Patch Antenna for Mobile Communications

Research output: Journal Publications and ReviewsRGC 21 - Publication in refereed journalpeer-review

Abstract

Using 2 L-probe antennas as elements, the dual-band can be operated in GSM/PCS system. The antenna can be used in GSM/PCS indoor base station with operation frequencies 900MHz and 1.8GHz. The copper rod is employed as an air transmission line and short pin is employed as DC grounded. The technique of L-probe fed patch antenna is employed for design of dual-band antenna due to its several advantages: low cost, lightweight, easy for fabrication and wider bandwidth. An impedance bandwidth of 15%(lower-band) and 11%(upper-band) (SWR ≤ 1.5) and average gain of 6 dBi have been achieved.
