Design of an effective double-rotor machine with robust mechanical structure

Research output: Chapters, Conference Papers, Creative and Literary WorksRGC 32 - Refereed conference paper (with host publication)peer-review

Abstract

Power split system is the key power transmission component in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). This paper presents a new consequent-pole inserted permanent magnet (PM) double-rotor machine., which is suitable as the power split system for HEV. The key is to insert the interior radical magnetized PM with the same polarity into the rotor's iron core., so the mechanical structure of the proposed machine is more robust. Also., the working principle is analyzed., and the structure is optimized. In addition., the performances of the conventional machine and proposed type are quantitatively compared. The result shows that proposed machine has more advantages to be applied for the power split system in HEVs.
