Abstract
A rig has been developed for determining the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of both conventional and cross-inclined tube banks. Results are presented for two conventional in-line and three cross-inclined tube banks. The pressure drop and heat transfer results for the in-line banks and the pressure drop results for the cross-inclined banks agree closely with reliable published data, and the Reynolds number ranges of the latter are extended by the present results up to 105. However, the poor agreement between the present and published overall average heat transfer data for the cross-inclined banks requires further study.
