Abstract
Abstract—Building and Construction Industry is a rapid growth industry in Hong Kong with increasing demand on commercial and residential buildings. Design, quality and construction techniques are recognized to be the key factors in the growth of the industry. To uphold the building quality standard, land developers, architects, building and construction consultants and contractors are adopting an IT solution with a web-enabled Defects Tracking System (DTS) to ensure project to be on-time, on-cost with quality management to improve operation efficiency and accuracy. The conducted study found the adoption of the DTS using mobile device provided a significant savings on manpower, ensured construction quality and maintain the project up-to-date status and progress for developer and contractors.
