Abstract

The compact wideband circularly polarized (CP) hollow dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with an embedded vertical feed network is investigated. A printed quadrature hybrid coupler is used as the feed network. Since the footprint of the feed network is small, the design can be very compact. For demonstration, a hollow cylindrical CP DRA was designed at ∼2.4 GHz for WLAN applications. The reflection coefficient, axial ratio, radiation pattern, and antenna gain were simulated using ANSYS HFSS and verified by measurements. Reasonable agreement between the measured and simulated results is observed. © 2013 IEEE.
