Collagen Fibers

Research output: Chapters, Conference Papers, Creative and Literary WorksRGC 12 - Chapter in an edited book (Author)peer-review

Abstract

Type I collagen fiber (CF) is one of the most abundant structural protein in vertebrates. Conferred by its intricate organization of hierarchical structure, CF (CF) displays remarkable performance with the combinations of mechanical properties, chemical‐reactivity and biocompatibility, far surpassing those of synthetic materials. In this chapter, a generalized view on the structure, properties, and advanced applications of CF will be given. Additionally, the perspectives in study of CF are discussed.
