Coaching Style, Implicit Theory of Ability, Goals and Transfer Performance

Abstract

We examined the relationships among coaching style, goal level, implicit theories of ability and transfer. Directive coaching led to better near transfer performance, while problem-solving coaching led to better far transfer performance. Goal level completely mediated this relationship while implicit theories of ability moderated the mediation.
