Abstract
Because of high developing speed of Chinese economy, services industry in China is now playing an increasing important role within all industry sectors. However, the improving rate of service industry is dramatically lower than traditional industrial and agricultural sectors, so it is urgent to find a more efficient approach to speed up service industry. In order to meet this call, on one hand, many actions have been taken to expand domestic needs, and on the other hand, a large number of service companies have begun to go for outsourcing and exploring in international market. As one of most important service industry sectors, Chinese international contractors (CICs) have set up a good example for other external services firms. Based on the research of CICs, we find that industry integration is an effective and efficient approach to enhance international competitive power of Chinese international contracting industry. We applied surveys to investigate the top 10 CICs, summarized and classified these methods by its driven power: the industrial chain, clients' value innovation and core business. Through the comparative analysis between top 10 CICs, we categorized and compared the characters of these methods and found some prospects of industry integration that can build and enhance CICs' international competitive power. © 2010 IEEE.
