Abstract
The dramatic human activity around the Shatin area, which started at the beginning of the 1970s due to land reclamation and extension over the sea, transformed the villages around the area into one of the biggest residential urban agglomerate in Hong Kong. The urban transformation of the landscape caused by major land reclamation, irrevocably changed the identity of the new territories around Shatin. The article is a reportage of the field work of Alessandro Carboni around a TaiPo.
