Abstract

A Ku-band parabolic cylindrical reflector antenna with a linear microstrip array offset feed was investigated. The antenna is simple in construction and high in gain, it can be used as a low cost receiving antenna in a DBS or satellite TV receiving system. Efforts were made on the design of the feed to produce optimum illumination for the reflector surface. Physical-optics approximation was to find the induced surface currents and Currents Integration method was applied to analyze the far field radiation. Numerical and experimental results of far field patterns were obtained and gain on the reflector was determined.
