Abstract
The results of a comprehensive analysis of the equilateral triangular patch antenna are presented for the case of a coaxial feed. The distance of the feed from the tip is treated as a parameter in the analysis. By means of the cavity model, formulas are obtained for the resonant frequencies, the radiation patterns, and the input impedances. The theory is straightforward and appears to yield results which are in resonable agreement with measurements. New characteristics of the antenna can be obtained from the theory.
