Abstract

The time division technique is proven to be an effective means to increase throughput of an integrated voice/data service CDMA cellular system by scheduling the transmission of a limited number of data users at any instant. In this paper, we analyze the capacity of an integrated voice/data service time division CDMA cellular system. Firstly, the relationship between the throughput and different number of simultaneous data users is analyzed. Then, the capacity boundary for maximum number of simultaneous data and voice users is presented. In addition, the critical factors (the minimum allowable data rate and the other-cell interference factor) affecting the capacity boundary are evaluated. The rejection probability of time division CDMA system is derived and is greatly improved compared with conventional CDMA systems.
