Abstract
Dielectric posts are often used to support a conducting patch above the air-ground. The capacitance formula for such posts is derived. Analysis is tackled by considering the characteristics of a parallel-plate capacitor separated and supported by dielectric posts. In our formulation, the novel technique of synthetic asymptotes developed by Chow [1-3] is used. The calculated results are compared to the computed results from the commercial software Maxwell and are found to agree to 2% on average. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
