Abstract

Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) to rectangular waveguide (RWG) transition plays a significant role in mmW applications. Unlike conventional broadband transitions, they often use multi layers or insertion structures. In this paper, a single-layer right-angle transition between SIW and RWG is presented. The impedance bandwidth of the single transition (|S11|< -15 dB) is from 50.2 to 65.2 GHz, or a relative bandwidth of 26%. A back-to-back transition is also designed for verification. Its impedance bandwidth (|S11|< -15 dB) is from 52.5 to 64.5 GHz (20.5%).
