Broadband impedance compensation for ground penetration radar antenna using genetic algorithms

Abstract

The broadband impedance compensation for ground penetration radar (GPR) antenna by the use of genetic algorithms (GA) was discussed. The impedance compensation was an efficient way for the fulfillment of both the antenna gain and impedance matching requirements. The GPR system was used to detect buried objects based on their responses to the incident pulse signals. It was found that with the impedance compensation network, the GPR antenna had a good impedance matching over its broad operating frequency band.
