    Abstract

The Phosphorus doped diamond-like carbon (P doped DLC) was fabricated using plasma immersion ion implantation-deposition (PIII-D). Adhesion platelet tests were conducted to analyze the blood compatibility of the DLC films. It was observed that the wettability of the films minimized the ineteractions with the plasma proteins. The results show that the superior haemocompatibility of the P doped DLC films can be attributed to the the wettability and interfacial tensions.
