Abstract

Fabrication of benzocyclobutene strip optical waveguides was performed. The condition for obtaining zero birefringence was discussed. The birefrigence property of this waveguide was analyzed theoretically with the assumption that the waveguide materials are isotropic. These waveguides are useful for the construction of polarization-insensitive polymer-based optical devices.
