Abstract

Book Review: Hong Kong Competition Law - Comparative and Theoretical Perspectives, by Thomas K. Cheng and Kelvin Hiu Fai Kwok

Hong Kong’s first cross-sector competition law — the Competition Ordinance (hereinafter Ordinance) — was enacted in 2012 and came into full effect in 2015. Professors Thomas Cheng and Kelvin Kwok’s Hong Kong Competition Law is the first and long-awaited scholarly monograph on this law. This monograph does far more than providing readers with an overview of HK’s competition law. Taking comparative and theoretical approaches, this monograph not only critically reviews the developments of the city’s competition law and policy but also sheds light on how the law and policy could be improved by offering concrete suggestions to the antitrust authority, the government and lawmakers in HK.
