Abstract
The meaning and practice of sustainability remain vague and contested. This arises because historical ontologies (local closedness) constrain chance-embracing epistemologies. When constructed articulations of history dictate present action, they fuel social mediations that generate polarization, delays, and conflicts.
For humanity, the only path forward is to cultivate a history of embracing chance, in which historical instances are articulated as paradox-resolving discoveries. Such articulations make social mediations causing polarization, delays, conflicts impossible. Furthermore, accumulated chance-embracing discoveries build diversified capacity for action under uncertainty, forming the basis of resilience. This mirrors nature’s sustainable process of embracing chance and diversity seeking via inclusion, supported by a conceptual structure that sustains this process.
The research demonstrates this mechanism as onto-epistemology i.e., both an epistemological process for humanity to “become like nature” (unification with nature) and an ontological structure revealing nature as the whole truth. The ontological structure is CTELS (Computational Theory of Existence, Sustainability and Love) and the method is RSPN (Problem–Solution–Paradox–New Enquiry). Through consistent RSPN application, CTELS is discovered as the scientific description of nature. CTELS is then operationalized by rediscovering established knowledge across disciplines—physics, cosmology, chemistry, biology, evolution, social sciences, ethics, and religious foundations— while resolving numerous paradoxes via RSPN application. It culminates in the rediscovery of number theory through Collatz sequence analysis, establishing the mathematical foundation of RSPN and CTELS, simultaneously explicating the origins of Collatz sequence.
The thesis itself demonstrates sustainability in action while presenting the whole truth of nature. Findings show sustainability is not a local negotiated condition but nature’s whole truth. For climate resilience, policies alone are insufficient. Recognition of whole truth and widespread adoption of the teachable RSPN method are essential. This enables the shift from “being with nature” to “becoming like nature,” generating correlation explosions (love) and building genuine long-term systemic resilience.
