Abstract
A coaxial-fed rectangular dielectric resonator antenna loaded by a folded metallic patch is studied. By introducing a foam layer between the metallic patch and the dielectric resonator, the impedance bandwidth of the antenna is increased from 2.2% to 6.3% (10-dB bandwidth). The proposed antenna has a maximum gain of 5 dBi. Good agreement between the simulation and measurement results are found.
