Abstract

A field research is carried out at atmospheric marine zones for evaluating the chloride deposition behavior of concrete structures under multiple geographic and environmental factors. Geographic factors of offshore distance, elevation, concrete surface orientation and building barrier, and environmental factors of temperature variation and rainfall on chloride deposition of concrete surface layer are evaluated. Our investigation demonstrates that chloride deposition content is significantly affected by offshore distance, elevation, and building barrier. Effect of concrete surface orientation on chloride deposition depends on the presence of building barrier. Besides, the large temperature variation and rainfall facilitate the chloride deposition.
