Abstract
Joint-University Mental-Wellness Project (JUMP) is a 3-year project launched by five universities in Hong Kong. The project objective is to enhance university students’ wellbeing and positive learning experiences. The uniqueness of the project includes Paradigm shift promoting wellbeing literacy, positive transformational learning pedagogy, capacity building for both staff and students with a variety of creative activities, the shift from teacher-led to student-led activities with inter-institutional collaboration, significant impact on the university students and the community. A total of 4,000 students, 300 staff and 1,500 people in the community participated in the project. Activities include interactive workshops, experiential learning camps, mental wellness festivals, community projects, staff training, a study tour, and an international conference. A longitudinal study showed a significant increase in meaning and coping flexibility, a significant decrease in anxiety and stress of the student participants. They also experienced more positive emotions and flow states after the project.
