Abstract
A current-source-mode (CSM) converter is an alternative solution to a voltage-source-mode (VSM) converter in some single-input dual-output (SIDO) applications where dual-output levels are required from one power source supply. This paper derives a series of CSM SIDO converters. The derivation principle of the CSM SIDO converters is to search the branches with current being equal to the constant input current, and connect another CSM converter in series. Based on CSM buck and boost converters, eleven feasible configurations are derived with the characteristics of simple control and no cross regulation. For illustration purposes, one specific CSM single-inductor single-input dual-output (SISIDO) converter is presented and its advantages are discussed. Finally, experimental results are presented to verify the analytical findings.
