Abstract

This is a chapter examines how scholars in the Ming period (1368-1644) dealt with the serendipity of everyday life through reading the Yijing (Book of Chinese). The chapter focuses on two hexagrams: "Ge" (#49) and "Ding" ($50), to draw attention on the range of possibilities in reading the Yijing.
