Abstract

Annealing of proton-exchanged planar optical waveguides in z-cut LiNbO3 fabricated using stearic acid has been studied systematically. The effects of annealing on waveguide propagation loss, surface index change, and waveguide depth were measured as a function of annealing time, and were found to follow a power-law relationship.
